In 2 Corinthians 4:17 Paul calls his trouble “light” and “momentary” which is kind of surprising when you read just a few verses previous that he’s crushed, perplexed and been given over to death, probably not what I would call “light” and “momentary”!  So what’s his deal?

Well it’s clearly something to do with his eternal perspective the “eternal weight of glory” which he is looking forward to.  Jeremiah Burroughs explains the connection really well.

A godly man in the midst of the waves and storms that he meets with can see the glory of heaven before him and so contents himself. One drop of the sweetness of heaven is enough to take away all the sourness and bitterness of all the afflictions in the world.
